| Winter is an ideal time to visit Melbourne. August in Melbourne is quiet cold especially at night where the temperature may fall to as low as 2ºC in the outer suburbs, often there will be days with spells of fine, calm weather. Fog forms in late evenings and clears usually by mid morning, sometimes it may persist for most of the day. However there now more days where there are light winds, cloudy and rainy days are now more common however heavy rain is very rare.
